Sheryl Sandberg, foremost businesswoman of US and now the Chief Operating Officer of Facebook said that visa policy of US is responsible for the shortage of skilled workers. She recommended some suggestions to the American visa immigration system for increasing the availability of skilled graduates.
Sheryl Sandberg said in a joint interview with Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook and Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) that the complications in the visa policy is restricting many technology and online corporations to obtain American visa due to which they are unable to compete with top engineering and technology graduates.
Ms. Sandberg said that if the process of obtaining US visa for overseas skilled migrants is made easy this will help in solving the problem of US employers who are struggling to hire skilled workers. To assure the foreign students that their skills are recognized by the American employers US should be “stapling a visa to every high-tech diploma.” She also said, "Those people, not only do they not take jobs from other Americans; they create jobs for other Americans if we could keep them here."
Sheryl Sandberg is a member of Obama administration’s Council of Jobs and Competitiveness, which recommends the President on stratagem for jobs growth and ensuring the American economy remains globally competitive.
