UK is a popular destination for people looking to live and work overseas. UK immigration comprises of a system based on five-tier points, which scores applicants on various criteria to assess their eligibility to obtain a UK work, study or other Visa.
The five-tier points based system encompasses all highly skilled work, study, and training immigration routes into the country. It has undergone a number of changes since its inception in 2008, and the recent being, changes in the application process for Tier 2 Visas & Tier 5 Visas.
The alterations in the process will allow the applicants applying under Tier 2 and Tier 5 Visas along with their dependant in UK, to apply online for the extension of their UK Visas.
The online application service will commence from 14 February 2012.
Under the existing immigration system, the applicants for Tier 2 and Tier 5 visas are required to submit their applications and documents either by post, courier or in person at any one of the UK's public enquiry offices. Whereas, in the new immigration system the initial application is submitted online.
