UK Announces Significant Changes to Tier 1 Entrepreneur Visa

UK Tier 1 Entrepreneur VisaThe UK’s Home Office has announced new amendments to the Tier 1 entrepreneur visa that allows overseas nationals to establish a business in the country which will generate jobs thereby developing the economy.

According to the new reforms, students backed with funds from an authorized source of the government will only be allowed to switch to UK Tier1 Entrepreneur Visa while a proof demonstrating their business activities is required for post-study workers. Besides, individuals who haven’t started their business and who do not hold any proof concerned with the business will not be permitted to switch to the Tier1 entrepreneur visa from the former post-study route.

On the other hand, the new rules will not affect the individuals who hold seed funding or funding provided by another government department and for those who are transferring from the Tier 1 (Post Study Work) visa. Individuals who have done their graduation in the UK will be permitted to extend their stay under the Tier 1 (Graduate Entrepreneur) route. In addition, overseas nationals who wish to set up a business in the UK will be able to apply for Tier1 entrepreneur visa.

The new amendments will pose limitations on the individuals who are currently staying in the UK on a Tier 4 (Student) or Tier 1 (Post-Study Work) visa and planning to extend their stay by filing an in-country application to Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) visa.

The statement of changes also incorporate confiscation of all tests provided by Cambridge International Examinations (CIE), and a few tests offered by Cambridge English and Trinity College London from the list of authorized English language tests.

Moreover, a new scheme entitled as 12 month ‘mathematics teacher exchange’ will be added to the Tier 5 (Government Authorized Exchange) category which aims at providing best practices in teaching levels of mathematics in various schools throughout England and China.
