UK has no intention closing doors on skilled workers

The UK Government made a conscious effort to allay the fear with regard to new immigration policy, that it would not close the doors to the entry of skilled workers, the British authorities said that they would continue to welcome skilled workers who would be able to take jobs that cannot be filled by local residents. Reacting to Indian newspaper reports that restrictions were being placed on Indian graduates taking up jobs after passing out from local universities. The British authorities said that Indians would be allowed to take on jobs after graduating from a local university provided they take up graduate level jobs. No doubt, Britain is trying to cut down on net migration, but at the same time it would continue to encourage legitimate visitors, students and businessmen from other countries. In fact, the UK Government said recently that the annual limit for skilled workers entry into UK would remain at the present level for the next coming 2 years. Going by statistics a decade back about 14,000 came to Britain, now in 2011 more than twice of these skilled workers have entered UK. With regard to business visa for Indians, the UK authorities said that no limit has been placed on Indians coming via intra company visas. This was decided upon after listening to the opinions of Indian businessmen.
