Background to International Migrants Day Announcement As per Global Commission the number of international migrants increased from 75 million to around 200 million after the 1970’s. International Migration report published in 2005 also stated that migration could accelerate due to the growing developmental, demographic and democratic disparities that existed between different world regions.
