Australia student visa will now require confirmed admission
Australian High Commission said that now if applicants want to apply for Australian student visathen they will need to show a valid proof of confirmed admission for any course in the Australian University. This change was implemented to student visa on 5th Nov.
The High Commissioner said, “This will improve the processing time as students will no longer need to wait for a Pre-Visa Assessment (PVA) letter to be issued by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) before arranging their COE.”
Peter Varghese, Australian High Commissioner to India had accepted the changes and welcomed them. He said that he strongly supports the move and the changes will definitely help Australia in attracting highly qualified overseas students.
He also said, “Australia is a quality education destination and these changes will strengthen that reputation. We look forward to welcoming high quality from India. Australia is a great place to study and I encourage all Indian students to consider the many benefits of studying in Australia.”
GTE-Genuine Temporary Entrant is a new criterion which was implemented on Nov 5th.
“This criterion will assist Australia to ensure that students are intending a temporary stay only for the purpose of their education. GTE will be assessed by interview in most cases and will consider the student’s background and the value of the course to their future,” the statement said.
